The Department "Oil and Gas business" was established in 2008 by the order of the rector of SKSU name after M. Auezova №124 from 06.09.2008. The Department trains bachelors and masters in 5b070800 –Oil and Gas business and 6M070800 –Oil and Gas business for the Oil and gas sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The direction of training of undergraduates includes: profile and scientific-pedagogical.
Academic degree: profile-master of engineering and technology; scientific and pedagogical-master of technical Sciences.
The task of the Department is aimed at training personnel who are able to generate advanced knowledge, constantly improve and increase intellectual capital, highly qualified specialists for companies: drilling Oil and gas wells; development and operation of Oil and gas fields; operation of gas and Oil pipelines and gas storage facilities of the Oil and gas industry of the country and region.
The Department plays a key role in the training of personnel for the Oil and gas sector of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Our mission is to become a driving force in the development of human resources, research and development of innovative technologies necessary for the region.
Training of specialists at the Department of Oil and Gas is based on innovative educational programs based on fundamental knowledge and modern achievements of science.
The concept of the educational program (EP) is based on the desire to provide highly qualified personnel of the Oil and gas industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The basis of the concept of EP is based on the following criteria:
- focus on the competencies of graduates as learning outcomes (Learning Outcome-based Approach) in the development, implementation and evaluation of the program;
- use of the ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credit system to assess competencies as well as the didactic units of the program to ensure their achievement;
- taking into account the requirements of international standards ISO 9001: 2008, European standards and guidelines for quality assurance of higher education (ESG, Standards and Guidelinesfor Quality assurance European Higher Education Area) within the Bologna process, as well as national and international criteria
- quality educational programs of Washington Accord Graduate Attributes and Professional competitions EUR-ACEF Standards for accreditation Of Engineering programs, etc.).
To manage the program at the Department there is a base of normative and instructional documents of the Ministry of education and science, on the basis of which the requirements and procedures for the management of educational, scientific and extracurricular activities.
The level of professional training of graduates of EP is determined by the requirements of the leading Oil and gas enterprises of Kazakhstan - consumers, based on the principles of high technology, resource and energy saving, environmental safety, widespread use of information technology, computerization of design and management.
One of the important characteristics of the educational process of the University is the presence of different forms of education. On OP training provides full-time and distance learning.
The content of the OP includes: General education disciplines (GED) – 25% (33 credits), basic disciplines (BD)– 50% (64 credits), specialized disciplines (SD) – 25% (32 credits) of the total temporary resource (129 credits). Writing and defense of graduation works of bachelor, is given 2 credits, practice from 6 credits. The content of the EP corresponds to the Model curricula (MC).
Educational programs 5B070800 " Oil and Gas business "and 6M070800 –" Oil and Gas business " in April 2014. passed specialized accreditation in the Independent Kazakhstan Agency for quality assurance in education (IKAQAE).
The number of teaching staff of the Department "Oil and Gas business", providing an educational program of bachelor degree specialty 5B070800-Oil and Gas business is 20, including: doctor of Sciences, Professor-2, PhD, associate professors, associate professors-3, PhD-1, masters-9. Staffing of the teaching staff is 100 %. Teaching staff, leading classes in this OP correspond to the specialty, have a degree of doctor and candidate of Sciences, as well as an academic master's degree. The Department has a sufficient reserve of qualified teaching staff in the disciplines to provide students with the choice or replacement of the teacher. In 2018-2019 school year, candidates of technical Sciences Bimbetov G. J. and M. K. Zhantasov became owners of the title "Associate Professor (associate Professor)".

The Department carried out an initiative research “Development and improvement of technology of drilling, production and preparation of Oil and gas.”
Funded R & d projects on the following topics have been completed and prepared for commercialization:
1. Development of technologies for obtaining new effective materials for the Oil and gas industry from waste Oil and fat industry (PCF);
2. Development of technology of obtaining the demulsified for dehydration of Oil-based fatty acids hoi polloi resin;
3. Development of adhesion promoters and multifunctional modifiers for creation of polymer-bitumen binder and asphalt concrete of new generation;
4. Development of systems of multifunctional low-component anticorrosion coatings for pipelines and petrochemical industry equipment;
5. Development of technology for producing multifunctional chemical reagents with improved tribotechnical and anticorrosive properties to improve the efficiency of drilling Oil and gas wells.
Students take an active part in the research of the Department "development of methods of intensification of Oil and gas production, technology and drilling of Oil and gas wells."
Under direction Professor Nadirova K. S., Umbetova associate professors G. J. and M. K. Zhantasova the results of the Republican contest for the best research work among students and undergraduates of the specialty was awarded a diploma of 1,2,3-degree
The Department has a set of "Laboratory of drilling fluids" (LBR), as well as a virtual research laboratory for drilling and workover, development of Oil and gas fields. R & d is devoted to the actual problems of development and operation of Oil and gas fields: the choice of the optimal method of extraction of paraffin Oil; intensification of the process of dehydration of Oil: improving the performance and obtaining components of drilling fluids; search for effective methods to reduce asphalt-paraffin deposits on Oil and gas equipment; development of highly efficient design of separators for gas purification: the use of hydrodynamic pulsators to increase reservoir pressure in Oil production.
The Department operates student scientific circle (SNK) "Driller".
For the work of the circle at the Department there is a set of "Laboratory of drilling fluids" (LBR), as well as a research laboratory in the audience 118 B and a virtual laboratory in the audience 211 B. NIRS devoted to topical problems of development and operation of Oil and gas fields: the choice of the optimal method of production of high-paraffin Oil; intensification of the process of dehydration of Oil using ultrasonic cavitations: improving performance and obtaining components of drilling fluids; the search for effective methods of reducing asphaltic to mix deposits on Oil and gas equipment; development of high-performance design of separators for purification of gases: application of the hydrodynamic asphaltic to mix for increasing reservoir pressure during Oil production; the technology of producing drilling fluids on the basis of local raw materials.
Attracting students to scientific research begins with 1 Kura. The share of participation of students and undergraduates in scientific activity is more than 80 %.
The Department of Oil and Gas business maintains stable relations with many universities and educational organizations in Western and Eastern Europe, North America, Asia and the Pacific region. The Department signed memoranda on joint training of specialists: Gubkin Russian state University of Oil and gas (Russia); Tashkent state technical University. I. Karimova (Uzbekistan); Kuban state Technological University (Russia); Institute of geotechnological problems of Oil, gas and chemistry (Azerbaijan); Leoben-Montand Technical University, (Austria); Heriot-Watt University (UK); Ivano-Frankivsk national technical University of Oil and gas (Ukraine).
Academic mobility is carried out within the framework of cooperation programs with leading foreign universities, implementation of international educational programs and projects, joint research activities, organization of scientific seminars and conferences, exchange of teaching staff and development of student mobility.
Educational and methodical work
Educational and methodical work is aimed at the implementation of the "State program of education development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2011-2020". and the "State program for accelerated industrial and innovative development of the Republic of Kazakhstan", The annual Address of the President of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan.
In accordance with the tasks we have achieved in-depth integration of learning and research at all stages of the educational process. Much attention is paid to the introduction of advanced achievements of modern science and educational technologies in the educational process.
The training is based on the use of an interdisciplinary approach to the study of natural and technical Sciences; curriculum modularization; active methods, contextual learning and learning based on experience, practice case studies. Fundamental knowledge of Economics students receive by studying courses: "Economics of intellectual property", " Fundamentals of commercialization and evaluation of the effectiveness of investment projects."
Currently, the Department "Oil and Gas business" is training for the Oil and gas industry in the specialty 5B070800-Oil and Gas business.

To the 20 anniversary of JSC "KazTransOil" 29.09.2017 G. students of the Department "Oil and gas" were awarded letters of Appreciation from the Director General of D.
